Review // Dior Diorshow Mascara

Mascara is definitely a beauty product I love to experiment with and try different ones out.
I mentioned it a lot of times before but I love a dramatic "false lashes"-finish, so a good mixture between length and volume but a bit more volume. Some of you might´ve read my post "The False Lashes Look" where I´ve mentioned how much I love the Dior Diorshow Pump´n´Volume Mascara - well I wanted to repurchase it but accidentally got this Dior Diorshow Mascara.

Well that´s definitely a different way to try out new products, haha. Luckily I´m not dissapointed in my wrong order at all, this mascara is just as lovely as the other one but more for the natual look!

Consistency

The first thing I´ve noticed when opening the tube is the heavy perfume scent this mascara has. It smells really good and flowery but I could imagine that it is a problem for girls with sensitive eyes. For me it´s totally fine though and so it kinda shows what a luxury product it is, I don´t know but it kinda gives me the feeling of luxury cause I never had a makeup product that smelled that good!
The consistency itself is really nice to apply, it´s not as sticky and wet as the cheaper mascaras so you get a voluminous look right from the start. It´s really the perfect mascara for everyday as after the first layer you get a really natural look with a bit of volume and nicely separated lashes and with the second layer it gets a bit more dramatic without looking too much!
Once the mascara is dried down it doesn´t budge or crumble, I find it´s the worst thing ever when you have black spots or smudges under your eyes, which happens normally quite often as I´m someone who gets watery eyes really fast when I´m laughing for example. As it holds onto your lashes that well, it takes a bit longer to remove it aswell. I use a oil-infused micellar water and wet my lashes with it a bit before rubbing the cotton pad all over to get it off and even then I need a bit patience haha. My lashes still feel very soft though when wearing the mascara so it´s all good and comfortable.

The Brush

I love these kind of mascara brushes. They just give you the perfect amount of volume and length and still separates your lashes. With that kind it´s also really easy to built the effect and amount on your lahses. The mascara itself doesn´t stick or gets clumpy on this brush aswell which I find is also really important when applying it to your bottom lashes - nothing is worse than wet clumpy bottom lashes.

The Finish

On the picture below you can see what the finish looks like after two layers - layers as in applying mascara once waiting a bit for it to dry and then apply another layer. For my liking one layer is "too natural" I´m more the type to put the main focus on my eyes and that´s definitely possible with this mascara. As you can see pretty well here aswell is that with the brush my lashes are beautifully separated but not too much "spider lashes", they still cling together at the roots which gives you an effect of a bit extra volume without looking clumpy.

So even though I bought this mascara more or less by accident, I really enjoy using it!
It´s something you can treat yourself to, if you are someone who likes a bit of luxury in your daily makeup routine. I love the finish, the feeling while wearing it - like it not drying my eyes or making them itchy - and of course that it´s smells so good like a flowery feminine perfume!

Everyday Makeup Look - October 2019

Unbelievable how long it has been since the summer has ended again, as soon as you get used to the hot temperatures, it gets colder again and unfortunately the days get shorter again...
As September has still been quite warm, I didn´t feel like changing up my makeup routine any time soon, but now I´m slowly switching a few products!

I have to say that in terms of makeup, the transition from summer to autumn is definitely a very fun thing. In summer I really don't wear much makeup, of course because of the temperatures, so I'm very happy to finally be able to reach a little deeper into the drawer again and put on a little more makeup.
In the beginning there are really only small changes for me, for example I can finally wear Foundation again, as well as eyeshadow and eyeliner. Nevertheless, I stay with lighter nude tones before I switch to cooler brown tones.

The following products are therefore currently in my daily makeup routine:

Base

For a long time I have used the NYX Angel Veil Primer as a primer. It is really so good! The most important thing for me with a primer is that it covers the pores around my nose to get an even skin texture. This primer fulfills exactly this point, it covers my pores very well without clogging them and also helps to keep my makeup in place. I always blend it in with the Zoeva Buffing Brush, it works very well and I just like it more than having the remains of the primer on my fingers.

My absolute favorite is the IT Cosmetics CC Cream. Wow, just wow! So far I've only heard good things about this product, but couldn't really imagine that a CC Cream can be as covering as a foundation - wrong thought. It gives such a beautiful skin complexion! Even, fresh and with a hint of glow. You can hardly notice that you have applied something and also when looking closely, there is no trace of a thick makeup layer to be seen. I can really recommend it!
I only apply the foundation with my Beauty Blender - it's hard to believe but the difference of the result when applied with this sponge or with a brush is really immense!

As Concealer I love the Maybelline The Eraser Concealer. I think it´s already my third bottle of it and I´ll keep using it. I find it has the perfect amount of coverage for everyday and it´s also so easy to blend with a damp sponge. It blends in really naturally and so it´s hardly noticeable that you´re wearing a concealer.

As a powder I have been using The Body Shop Honey Bronzer in 003 Medium Mat for a long time, but no not as a bronzer but to set. The bronzer in this color is still so light that I can apply it to my whole face and get a more "beautiful" skin color for me, and not underline my paleness even more.
For a hint of colour I apply the Artdeco Bronzing Blush. A beautiful three-coloured blush which, when all colours are mixed together, gives a beautiful sun-kissed complexion. Unfortunately this is only available on the Artdeco website as it is a limited edition as far as I know.
Finally there are a few splashes of the Artdeco Fixing Spray and the base is done!

Brows & Eyes

When it comes to eyebrows, I really always switch between extremely filled, defined eyebrows and the more natural look, where I hardly fill up my eyebrows and just comb them. Right now I love the natural look!
For this I use the NYX Fill & Fluff Eyebrow Pomeda Pencil in Chocolate. I definitely prefer eyebrow pencils because they are easier to use. This one is really very strongly pigmented, so you have to be careful not to get Eding eyebrows, haha. With the brush on one side I comb my eyebrows upwards and then only fill out the tail and the lower line, because my eyebrows are generally thicker anyway, this is enough for me.
As Mascara my new darling, the Dior Diorshow Mascara, should not be missing. Since I have already talked about it in more detail in my previous post, I will now be short. Long, voluminous eyelashes that look like fake eyelashes.

Lips

Currently I use almost every day the Artdeco Hydra Care Lipstick in Rose Oasis. It is a really beautiful natural rosé shade, a little more pink but not too extreme. I really like it a lot and the best part is the moisture strip in the middle of the lipstick. It gives a lot of care to the lips, which feel really soft for a long time.
For a browner lipstick I love the MaxFactor Lipstick in Burnt Caramel. A nice pink/brown tone. It also looks a lot darker in the packaging than it really is. It also feels very pleasant on the lips and lasts very well and long.

H&M Home Haul

Some time ago I decided to give my room a little makeover.
The main reason for it was that I had the same furniture and decoration since a few years so I slowly became bored of it all.
My idea was to go for all white furniture and then add simple gold/rosé gold/pink accents to add some kind of personality to it. I really love a chic but still girly interior. I definitely had a clear vision of which decorations I wanted to buy, as I´ve got a lot of inspiration from places like Instagram or Pinterest, so I´ve started to scroll through lots of different interior/decoration online shops but most of them were definitely too expensive for the things I´d like to get - apart from H&M Home.

H&M Home has a huge selection of many different interior things, starting from furniture to decoration and even homeware! I really love that they have separated categories for each room and currently they also have their christmas range out (I´ve only just seen that so I´ll have to look through that immediately, haha). Back to my theme though, I scrolled through the shop and literally found so many lovely things for a reasonable price, that I had to sort out my shopping basked in the end as I definitely didn´t need everything I had selected.

In the end I went for the following things:

Flower Pot in Copper

On top of my list was definitely a nice plant. Not only is it good for the air in my room but also adds a nice fresh touch to it. As I didn´t want to get a boring white flower pot I got a beautiful one in copper. It looks really nice, like not too copper-y, I find it tends to look more rosé gold. For 15€ you can´t go wrong wih it. The quality is suprisingly good and it´s the perfect size to put it on a shelf or sideboard. The plant I put in it is from a local garden center though, don´t ask me what kind of plant it is, I just picked it cause it fits into the pot and looks pretty, haha.

Pillow Cases

Then I also got two new pillow cases, one in white with little pom poms around it and one in light pink. I don´t really use these pillows to sleep with them. but rather I put them on the other end of my bed to not make it look empty there. They fit really well with most of my bedding and in case I get bored of them again, they can always be replaced or switched haha. One costs around 15€ but again the quality is really nice. They feel soft but aren´t see through and easy to clean.

Metall Tealight-Holder

I actually prefer to buy huge candles in nice glasses but this tealight-holder was a purchase with the idea of just filling empty space with it, haha. I though it was pretty cute, fitted my new theme and could also be used as photo prop, so I could only with with it. It´s pretty much the same colour as the flower pot, more on the rosé gold side and again for only 6€ it´s totally fine. I´m really happy with the colour of these two as it´s not flaking nor does it look streaky or badly painted.

Leaf-Shaped Tray

To always have my most worn jewellry on display and quick to put on, I´ve got this leaf-shaped tray in pink. It looks unbelievably cute and is really the perfect size to fit most of my jewellry. I´ve noticed most of the things I´ve got are also perfect for blog photos and this one too, haha. I also like the colour of it, as it´s quite pink but not too much, it still fits with the other products I got.

Tin with Relief Pattern

When I saw this tin I knew I had to get it as I just love everything about it. The colour is perfect, it has a little golden detail, the pattern is really cute and it has a good size to store little things in it. To be honest though, right now it´s still empty and just looks pretty on my shelf. I might put some tealights in it for my tealight holder but we´ll see. Also I´ve never heard of a pattern like that but it´s something unique and kinda makes it look vintage? Like it could be a jewel case.

High Stoneware Vase

It was love at first sight with this vase too. I simply love it. It looks like very high quality and fits very well with almost every other colour. Right now it´s still empty as it´s not as high as I thought it would be, so I´m still thinking about what to put in there, but very high up on my list is pampas. It would fit perfectly with the vase, so I´m going to look out for them the next time I go to a flower shop. I also hope it´s even possible to get twigs in this height, haha.

Little Metal Tray

Last but not least I got a little golden metal tray to keep my perfume bottles in place. I tried to put them all on the shelf but that way it kinda looked like they were randomly put there, with the tray underneath though it looks a lot better, or let´s say it looks like I´ve actually put thought in it. Underneath the tray are four rubber dots, so that the tray stays in place and can not be accidentaly pushed down. The colour is a sublte golden shade, not too yellow. I was first worried as it´s the only bigger golden decor I have, but it matches really good with the copper and pink shades.

All in one I´m really happy with the products I picked and got. It was my very first order from H&M Home but as I already said quite some times now, the quality is really good and the pieces arrived safely and really quick. It´s definitely not the last time I´ve placed an order there.

What theme did you go for in your flat/room? Where do you like to buy your interior/decor bits?

How To Achieve A Smooth Foundation Finish

A smooth foundation finish is not only aesthatically pleasing, but also makes applying and playing around with makeup so much more fun. Over the years I´ve tried myself through lots of different products to achieve exactly this finish - and let me tell you, there are so many cringe worth-y pictures from my early teen years, where I had a thick foundation layer + lots of powder on - absolutely horrible!
Finding the right foundation, that fits for you in terms like feeling, coverage, finish, etc., is definitely a huge part of getting a nice complexion, but there´s so much more you should look out for.
I´ve listed the points that I found that have helped me to get a nice clear skin and then also a beautiful foundation finish:

Skincare

Logically a smooth complexion begins with a good working skincare routine. It feels like it took me ages until I´ve found skincare products that actually work for me. Ever since I´ve been around 14, I´ve been trying myself through so many different products, none really worked for me. Since around one year I´ve build a routine that works so well for me, that I often get asked which foundation I´m wearing, even though I´ve got nothing on besides powder, because my skin is so clear.
So basically what I´m using is the Garnier Micellar Water to take my makeup off, then to really clean my skin I use the PIXI Tonic, right now I´m using the Rose version, but I also really like the Glow version. I´m always so suprised by how dirty my skin still is after taking my makeup off - so I really recommend to reach for a tonic every evening, it makes a huge difference that´s even instantly noticeable! In the end I apply a thin layer of the Hello Body Night Cream, it´s sooo good! It´s quite thick but still sinks in really fast and gives a good amount of moisture. In the morning I use the Hello Body Day Cream, it feels a lot lighter and gives my skin a nice glow.

Prep & Prime

You could have the world´s best foundation, without a good working primer it just won´t look as good as it could or as you hope it would. Ever since I´ve started to wear more and more makeup, I´ve also started to try myself through many different primers, from drugstore ones to high-end ones. In my opinion a good primer can definitely cost a little more, because looking back now for examples the Maybelline Baby Skin Primer for around 5€ was absolutely horrible compared to the Benefit Porefessional for around 30€, which hid my pores so well and just gave me a nice and even complexion. I went through 3 tubes of the Benefit Primer before finding the NYX Angel Veil, which is by far the best I´ve tried. The consistency is a bit thicker, but it hides my pores without clogging them and costs only 16€. So it´s really trail and error with primers, but please never leave them out of your makeup routine. As there are so many different ones on the market, you´ll definitely find one that fills your needs. I prefer the ones that hide pores, but every now and then I also reach for those who give me a nice glow.

The Perfect Foundation

Speaking of the world´s best foundation, it´s so important to find one that´s just perfect for you!
First off you should check what skin type you are, oily, combination or dry and based on that you can go on the hunt through the huge selection of different foundations. I have combination skin that tends to dry skin so for me foundations with a semi-glow finish are the best. At the start I´ve also tried a matte foundation and quickly noticed that this kind is definitely not right for me. So again it´s really just trail and error. I often listen to recommendations from other bloggers but not even then every foundation is right for me, even though we have the same skin type, as every skin reacts different to the ingredients that are in each foundation. The best example was that I´ve tried the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation, everyone loves and raves about it, it´s supposed to give a nice glowy finish, well I´ve tried it, it looked horrible and gave me lots of pimples - in the end I´ve used it three times before giving it away, sad but now I know that it´s just not something that works for me.

Blending

Everyone prefers a different kind of blending method or tool, but after trying several different brushes I´ve stuck with my beauty blender. It´s unbelievable how flawless it blends the foundation into your skin, like there are no patches or streaks, just an even complexion. Not only is it a lot faster and easier to blend everything out, you also don´t "lose" as much foundation as you do when working it in with a brush. I´m sure there are a few that are better to be worked in with a brush but for me my beauty blender is definitely my number one.

Set

Lastly we´ve got to make sure everything stays in place. I prefer to use pressed powders rather than loose ones, simply because I don´t like the feeling loose powders leave behind and also some of them give a white flashbacks when you take photos with the flash on. A little tip from my side is to use light brown powders, like the The Body Shop Honey Bronzer, rather than translucent ones. It just gives you a hint of colour which is especially good during the winter when the summer tan fades away. I´ve been doing that for about a year and I just like the finish so much better.
Often powders leave a light layer of powder particles behind, to get rid of these I use setting spray. Just be careful to not use too much as you don´t want anything creasing away, so 2-3 spritz are more than enough.

So that´s how I get an even foundation finish that I´m more than happy with and often get asked about.

Do you have any tips on how to get a smooth foundation finish?
