I´ve been stuck on my nude tones from the summer time for a very long time now, but as the last warmer days and even Halloween did pass now, I guess it´s time to atleast update my lipstick choices to some darker earth tones. I guess the typical autumn lipstick shade is still a berry tone, but to be honest I´m not really feeling it anymore, I definitely prefer a nice settled brown tone or a red is also totally fine. That´s what my choice are inspired by, and I think some of you might like these shades aswell:
Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Always Red
Let´s start with the brightest lipstick choice. It´s my very first liquid lipstick from Sephora and I´m loving it! It´s highly pigmented, feels very comfortable on my lips and the colour is pretty much the same as it looks in the tube - a nice bright red. It slides on really easily and stays in place so well, like I went out clubbing with it and it nearly didn´t budge at all. Even with being quite pale during the winter months, this shade still suits me quite well and isn´t too much or makes me look even more pale. What I also find really good and important is that it´s really moisturizing and the first layer of it is thick enough to cover dry lips, but it doesn´t feel to heavy on your lips, actually you barely notice having anything on.
Sephora #LIPSTORIES in Labyrinth City
When I first opened this lipstick I was a bit suprised by how deep red it looks, it even put me off a bit first cause I thought it didn´t suit me, but when I swatched it I completely changed my mind. It´s a stunning purple-y brown shade that can even be worn everyday. For a lipstick it´s unbelievably high pigmented, very creamy and dries to nice matte finish. Again this is also my first lipstick from Sephora and honestly I´m so pleased by the quality of both of these lip products. When it´s dried down to it´s matte finish, it doesn´t make your lips look nor feel dried out but rather very moisturized,. I do have to say, the packaging isn´t the most luxury one, but still quite cute. All in one it´s a big hit for me.Illamasqua Lava Lipstick in Vixen
The most natural red lipstick is definitely this one. As you can see its very unique and beautiful design has different shades of red in it, so after applying the lipstick it gives you a nice light red/rose semi-matte finish. I do have to say though, it does need a few more layers to get a strong pigmentation and the lipstick itself feels a bit heavier than the other lip products. I still really enjoy using it, cause it´s just a gorgeous shade and it stays on pretty well, and only for the design it´s something nice to have in your makeup bag. I´ve also used this on Halloween on my eyes, so if you ever need a base for a more red-toned eyeshadow look, this is the one for you, haha.
What is your favourite lipstick shade for Autumn and Winter?
Post a Comment
Summer is over since a longer time now, yet I found myself reaching back for my summer makeup items, especially during the last days where we still had around 20 degree celsius. After a sudden drop in temperature I thought now is the perfect time to bring out my autumnal makeup favourites and keep them out for a very long time.
During summer I was more likely to reach for a light BB-Cream, instead of heavy full coverage foundations, a natural eyemakeup look and on the lips I preferred also a more natural pink/nude shade.
Well, for autumn I go for the complete opposite...
I really enjoy putting a heavy foundation on my face during the colder months. I take full advantage about the fact that I won´t sweat it away, but rather have the full coverage with an even flawless base. My favourites for that are the Rimmel Match Perfection, the L´Oreal Perfect Match and the last of what is left from my MAC Studio Fix Foundation. The reason why I love all three of them is easy, with combination skin I always had the problem of it either being too oily or too dry.
When I have the case of too oily skin, I reach for the RImmel or MAC foundation. Both have a semi-matte finish, and you can literally see every dry patch, but keep oil at bay.
During dry skin days I reach for the L´Oreal Foundation, as it has a really glowy finish and dry skin patches are completely hidden and covered with it. The only negative thing about this foundation is, that it needs to be set again during the day as otherwise, things get too oily and glowy.
For the eyes I switch from a subtle shimmery nude to a full on daytime smokey eyes, or for autumnal shades from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette. This palette is just made for this time of the year. I really love to use the caramel/beige or berry shades in the crease and the glittery nude shades on the lid for an easy everyday look. If I´m not using this palette, I reach for something like the MAC Satin Taupe Single Eyeshadow, which is a grey, slightly glittery shade all over my eye or an eyeshadow stick, like the RImmel Scandaleyes, a golden bronzey shade that I apply in a line along my lashline and then blend it out towards my crease. Simple but effective :)
My lipstick choice is probably the most different during the colder months, as I switch from nudes to berry and brown shades.
By far my favourite berry lip choice is the NYX Full Throttle in Locked. It´s waterproof, like you can literally drink everything, even really hot beverages, and it doesn´t fade or smudge at all. The colour pay off is really lovely and the lipstick just feels really comfortable to wear all day long.
I find myself reaching for liquid lipstick every now and then, and one of my current favourites is the NYX Lingeries, they are really pigmented and when used with a lip balm underneath also comfortable to wear. The colour range is really big and goes from paler pink/nudes to really dark browns and reds.
How do you switch your makeup up for the colder months?

It´ autumn and time for a colour change. I love adding a berry lip or more likely, how you can see on the picture above, a mauve, red or nude shade, it really depends on the eyemakeup I go for. Bold lips for less eye and nude lips for dramatic dark eyes. I searched togehter my 5 Top Lipstick shades and some matching lip liners.
Lipliners are the essentials that really pull a perfect lip togehter. First off it´s much easier to apply bold lipstick with the help of lip liners and I find it makes your lips look defined and just absolutely to die for!
I have a really bad feeling that my little collection will grow very soon and very fast, haha :)
How you can see I bought quite a few MaxFactor ColourElixir ones, they are all just absolutely dreamy, they cost about 7€ each which is more on the pricey side for a drugstore lipliner but the quality is just amazing. Really buttery, easy to glide on, long-lasting and match with almost every lipstick I own! I got the shades: 06 Mauve Moment, 02 Pink Petal and 10 Red Rush.
Another lip liner I use quite often is the L´Oreal Contour Parfait in 658 Simply Rose. It is a pencil lipliner but anyway really similar to the MaxFactor ones, also really easy to apply and fit to loads of lipsticks. I can´t find it online anymore since I could possibly be one of the older lipliners from L´Oreal but as far as I´m aware they should be still availbe instore.
The first one is the Max Factor Colour Elixir in 745 Burnt Caramel.
This is a really lovely brown-y, mauve-y shade. It is really creamy and buttery, the colour pay-off is amazing I only need to swipe over my lips once and it lasts for a few hours. And not even does it stay amazingly long, even through eating but also it smells so goooooood! I actually find that really important in a lipstick, if it smells/tastes strange I´m not going to wear it that often, but this lipstick smells, and I´m not joking with you here, like cake to me, like a really sweet and yummy cake.

A Oldie but still a Goldie is MAC´s Angel.
I remember it to be the very first lipstick I got and I´m still absolutely in love with it.
It´s from their Satin Finish section and so the finish is shiny but not glittery which looks gorgeous on a daily basis with a simple cat eye and rosy cheeks. This one is also really creamy and all in one it´s a beautiful pale pink shades.

If you are not from Germany you have probably never heard of the brand P2 before, that´s because it´s a own brand from a german drugstore, anyway I decided to include it in this post because it´s my first really bold lip product and I have to be honest, I was really insecure wearing it for the first time. It´s a matte(!) red shade with what I find a orange undertone which makes it really pop out. I looooove it so much now, you do need to wear lip balm under it since it´s really drying.

Now back to a nude everyday shade. The Maybelline Colour Sensational 732 Brazen Beige. This is a really nude shade and when I say really nude, I mean it looks like you put foundation all over your lips, so you have to be careful with this one. Apart from that it does look really nice if you apply loads of layers so that it looks really glossy and buttery. On a daily basis or with dramatic eyes, I choose between this one or MAC´s Angel.

The newest addition to my collection is KIKO´s Intensely Lavish Lipstick in "01 Lusty Peony". It is supposed to be a matte shade, when it´s dry it goes matte but still looks a bit shiny and not really dried out. Even though I only just bought this lipstick I´m head over heels with it, the colour is an absolute dream, I would describe it as a rose colour. You could say it is a bold lipstick but a more natural bold lipstick. KIKO sells a matching lipliner for this one but everytime I go to a shop it´s sold out, but I´ll try my best!
